Adintaf needs help and support in order to carry on our work.
<p>We would like to share with you an evaluation made by the Director of the French association, Colombbus, who went to Benin to see what Adintaf had done in view of possibly helping us pursue our activities.

"The Adintaf NGO is a neighborhood NGO set up in Godomey on the outskirts of Cotonou.  Their goal is to provide informal computer training to people and to manage a Cyber center.  Alongside these activities, the NGO also provides computer equipment.  Adintaf contacted Colombbus in Paris, requesting our support to develop their activity in Benin.  Colombbus offered to visit Adintaf's set up in Benin, and engage a discussion with the people in charge of the activities on site.  The Adintaf center in Benin has two permanent employees.  One person is in charge of managing the Cyber activity, and is skilled to help web surfers.  Another person manages the center's training activities.
........The center isn't empty during school vacation.  Students come here to train for a cost of 10000 FCFA (15 euros, editor's note) for 40 hours of training. Young girls who have dropped out of the school system come here for training as well, some of them succeed in finding secretarial work thanks to the training they received from the NGO.  The different courses offered by Adintaf are, Office applications, Educational Software for math and general culture, Using the internet, Managing a mailbox, and Searching the internet.  Using this approach, the NGO has trained approximately 385 people after a quick evaluation, and exclusively during school vacation.

...........upon the arrival of DSL in Benin, Adintaf wanted to increase the center's capacity.  But the service providers lack of skill with this new technology has led to the complete destruction of the center's cyber activities.
The recruitment method used by the association seems to be to train candidates before going on to hire them.  All of the employees that we met had followed this itinerary.  Colombbus' visit to Adintaf allowed us to discuss with the different generations of the association's employees (3 generations), who in the end have gone on to develop their own businesses or to work for other organizations in the same field.  For example, one of the center's trainers who began at Adintaf as a trainee is currently working independently as a computer equipment resaler in Cotonou...............................

Civil servants who live in the area also use the center for their internet activity. If the center closed down, people would be obliged to go to Cotonou or to Calavi to access the Internet.  Therefore, the Adintaf project answers a real need...........................

Colombbus' visit to the Adintaf center allowed us to see that the equipment being used there belongs to a bygone era.  In the center there are PI and PII, running on Windows 98.  A trial use of the Cyber offer allowed us to see that it's quite difficult to view content of the websites we searched. Is this due to the PCs or to the DSL connection ?  Adintaf would like to work with Colombbus in order to revive their activity......................."</p>
